Group Exercise Classes

Fitness center members enjoy full access to group exercise classes. Non-members (16 years or older) are welcome to participate with purchase of a one-day guest membership ($7 residents/$9 non-residents).

We offer a wide variety of classes at various times throughout the week.

A-Z Fitness Glossary

Aqua A total body water workout designed to improve
cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility.
Aqua Pump A total body water workout with the added element of pilates principles.
 
Boot Camp Be ready for a challenging workout! Challenge yourself with
cardio intervals, calisthenic conditioning and circuit training.
There will be lots of space to move as this class is held on
the Bulls court.
Circuits A circuit class with 4-5 minute intervals of hi-low movements, athletic drills, kickboxing, strength exercises, core work, etc....
Core Conditioning The perfect complement to cycle or strength. This 45-
minute class is dedicated to abs and total core fitness.
Core Fusion A total body workout that tones and sculpts the whole body from arms and shoulders to glutes, hips, thighs, and abs.
F.I.T. Functional Integrated Training - Let's get stronger together. Challenge your muscular endurance and strength along with your balance and coordination with this total body strength training class.
FIT/BAR Fusion Challenge your muscular strength with a bar while integrating muscular endurance with balance and coordination.
Hi/Lo Interval  Interval training is a key component to building strength and endurance. This new class utilizes weights, step, tubing, and other training tools to maximize your workout.
Indoor Cycling An addictive high energy workout! Build strength and
endurance during a non-impact ride on a stationary bike.
A great component of cross training.
Kickbox A great dynamic workout featuring moves derived from various martial arts disciplines.  Punch, kick, sweat!
Pilates A mat based exercise class designed to improve core
strength and stability. Emphasis is on muscular balance
and flexibility.
PiYo PiYo is a sports and core conditioning format which uses yoga and pilates "inspired" movements. When performed on a regular basis, PiYo will increase the participant's strength, flexibility, and balance.
Rock Yoga A total body strength and flow workout designed to tone and sculpt every major muscle group while engaging your core through yoga poses.  Lightweight dumbbells take this yoga inspired class to a more intense level in depth, strength and flexibility.  All levels welcome.  No prior yoga experience necessary.
Step & Strength

Beginner/Intermediate step combinations mixed with toning and strength exercises.

Strength

Full body strengthening class featuring weights, tubing, medicine balls, etc.

Tai Chi Through slow movements, participants will develop better balance, proper body mechanics, and mental calmness.  Practicing Tai Chi helps to relieve stress, improve muscular strength, flexibility, and overall fitness.
30/30 This workout tones and strengthens the entire body.  30 minutes each of cardio and strength work targeting all major muscles with the use of a variety of equipment.
Total Conditioning Challenge your muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance during this 60 minute circuit style class.
Turbo Kick The ultimate cardio challenge that's a unique blend of intense intervals, strength/endurance training, and a relaxing cool down. No previous kickboxing experience is required.
X-Treme Intervals Inspired by the famous P90X ~~~ X-Treme Intervals will challenge you with calisthentics, strength training, and unexpected endurance intervals!
Yoga Relax, strengthen, and soothe the mind. Focus is on flexibility,
balance and strength through postures and breathing.
Yoga Alignment This all-level class focuses on proper form and methods of movement between the various Yoga postures.  This class offers an excellent opportunity for someone new to Yoga to learn the basics and allows a seasoned veteran the cahnce to perfect their practice.
Yoga - All Level This class is highly adaptable to all experience levels.
Focus is on relaxation and strengthening the body while
soothing the mind. All are welcome!
Zumba

A fun dance-based cardio workout set to great motivating music. A feel happy workout adaptable to all fitness levels.




 

Personal Trainers

Sachs Recreation Center is pleased to offer certified personal trainers to help you achieve your fitness goals! Single sessions and packages are available, or choose to train with a partner. Either way, your personal trainer will design the workout that’s best for you. Personal training is a service that is available to Sachs Recreation Center fitness center members.

Family Swim & Open Swim

openswimEveryone is invited “Into the Pool!” on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Bring the whole family for a refreshing dip! Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Lifeguards are on duty. Additional hours may be added during holidays; call 847-572-2600 for more information.

Open Swim/Family Swim Fees

Sachs Recreation Center members: Free
Individuals and children of members: $4 each
Families: $8 for the whole family

Lap Swim Schedule

The pool has all lanes open from 5:00 am - 8:45 am for lap swimmers.  Please call the front desk for additional lap swim times.  

Note that the schedule is subject to change for rentals, parties, and other park district programs. (PDF format)

 

Jogging/Walking Track

trackFitness center members may use the track during all scheduled open track times at no additional cost. Nonmembers may also participate by paying a daily usage fee. All track participants must check in at the front reception desk prior to entering the track. A valid membership card, pre-paid daily visit pass, or daily admission fee must be presented. One-day guests are identified by wristband as a track user.

Please note: proper footwear including closed toe, non-marking athletic shoes must be worn; food and beverages other than water are not allowed on the track. Teaching private lessons, conducting team practices, and providing instruction are prohibited. The track is for use only by individuals 16 years and older.

Track Fees

Members: Enjoy access to the track during open track times at no additional cost.
Nonmembers: $4 per track visit

Purchase an open track pass for $40/10 visits. Share a pass between family and friends! Children under age 16 are not allowed to accompany adults on the track.

 

Open Gym

opengymFitness center members may use the gym during all scheduled open gym times at no additional cost. Non-members may also participate by paying a daily use fee during designated hours. All open gym participants must check in at the front reception desk prior to entering open gym. One-Day guests are identified by wristband as a daily user.

Please note: proper footwear including closed toe, non-marking athletic shoes must be worn; food and beverages other than water are not allowed on the gymnasium floors; teaching of private lessons, conducting of team practices, or instruction are not permitted during open gym sessions. The Recreation Staff reserves the right to determine court usage and court play during open gym sessions.

Adult times are 18 years of age and over.

High school times are for Freshmen through Seniors in high school.  Student I.D. must be presented when checking in.

Grade school times are up to 8th grade.  Those 12 and under must be accompanied by a fee paying adult.  The adult can be a member or a daily guest.

Open gym users 13 and older do not need to be accompanied by an adult.
